Davis High School Dance Dress Code Policy and Behavior Expectations
I understand and accept the following standards when attending a school dance at Davis High School:
1) Any student hoping to bring a guest from another school must fill out a guest contract to be
admitted to the dance. Guest contracts must be approved by a member of the Davis HS
administration by 2:30 PM on the Thursday prior to the dance. A copy of the guest contract
can be found at the bottom of this document and hard copies will be available in the Davis HS
Main Office. All students will need a valid school ID to be admitted to the dance.
2) Students must adhere to dance dress code. Students who do not comply with this dress code,
as well as students who remove any clothing after they have been admitted into the dance
may be asked to leave the dance. No refund will be given. We will be monitoring the dress
code closely at each school dance.
Dance Dress Code for Students
• All dresses or gowns must have straps. Shawls worn around the neck do not indicate
compliance as these are usually removed inside the dance. A shrug or jacket may be worn to
make the dress compliant, however, any shrug or jacket used for dress code compliance must be
worn at all times for pictures and in the dance.
• As a general reminder, students may not wear athletic jerseys.
• Skirt length must be no shorter than mid-thigh.
Recommended attire for most Davis HS Dances (required for Prom)
Boys – shirts with collars, slacks, sport jackets, ties (no shorts)
Girls – dresses (formal or ball gowns)
3) “Mosh Pit” dancing can be dangerous and may not be permitted. Students who engage in
dangerous dance behavior may be removed from the dance. No refund will be given. We
recognize that our students may not intentionally harm others at a school dance. However, due
to the potential risks involved we will not tolerate any behavior that could potentially harm
another student. We will simply ask the offending student(s) to leave the dance.
Davis High School Dance Guidelines
The following policies are designed to promote an environment in which all students and adults feel safe
and comfortable. Enforcement of the dress and dance guideline is at the discretion of the Davis High
School staff and administration. Students and/or their guests in violation of the Davis High School Dance
Guidelines may be immediately removed from the dance, have their parents called, and will be
prohibited from attending future dances!
